The story takes place on New Year's in the fictional town Kitezhgrad. Ivan Pukhov, a young musician and piano tuner, is in love with a young beautiful girl Aliona, who works at the Institute of witchcraft and magic NUINU in Kitezhgrade. Their wedding is about to happen, and Aliona will move to live with her husband. But a devious deputy director Sataneev also dreams of Aliona.
